Ask Claude about every TikTok you've saved
Clippings is a connector for Claude. Once it's added, Claude can search your clips, read whole transcripts with your notes attached, and work across an entire notebook at once. It is included on every plan, including Free.
How the connection works
Clippings runs a remote MCP server (Model Context Protocol, the open standard Claude uses for connectors) at https://clippingsapp.xyz/mcp. You add it in Claude's settings as a custom connector, sign in to Clippings when Claude asks, and choose whether Claude may only read your clips or also save new ones.
After that, Claude calls Clippings when a question needs it. Your Claude does the thinking, on your Claude plan; Clippings hands over the raw material — transcripts, takeaways, your notes — and spends no AI of its own on the answer.
What Claude can do
- List your notebooks, with clip counts and the standing context you wrote for each.
- Search your clips — inside the transcripts, not just the titles, so a phrase spoken in a video is findable even when it appears nowhere else.
- Browse recent saves: what did I save this week, anything from July.
- Read one clip in full: transcript, takeaways, your note, the source link.
- Read a whole notebook in one go, for the questions that span a collection — recurring themes, a weekly review, where the creators you saved contradict each other.
- Save a clip from a link you paste into the chat, if you allowed it. Claude confirms first, because it uses one of your clips.
Three one-click starters ship with the connector: Weekly review, Notebook deep dive and Find contradictions. They are most of the difference between connecting the server and understanding what it is for.
Setting it up
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
- Paste
https://clippingsapp.xyz/mcp. - Claude opens a Clippings page. Sign in, choose read or read and save, and approve.
- Ask Claude about your clips.
Every connected assistant is listed on your Clippings settings with its own Disconnect button.
Trust and safety
The connection is OAuth with PKCE, so no secret ever sits in a URL that could be screenshotted or synced between devices. Tokens are stored hashed, expire, and can be revoked one at a time. Only finished clips are ever returned, and every transcript is marked as quoted speech from a third-party video, so Claude treats what a creator said as source material rather than as instructions.
Claude sees only what is in Clippings: never your Notion, your Drive or your vault.
Plans
The Claude connector is on every plan, including Free, for reading and for saving. On Free you get 5 clips to start and then one a week, and Claude can read all of them. Saving through Claude uses the same allowance as saving from your phone. Compare plans.
