Save TikToks and Reels into NotebookLM as sources
Every clip you save becomes a transcript in a Google Doc that NotebookLM keeps in sync. Add the Doc once, and every clip after that arrives on its own, with your note on why it mattered and the key takeaways sitting above the full text.
How the connection works
NotebookLM has no public way to add a source from outside, so Clippings uses the route Google does support: Google Docs sources stay in sync with Drive. Clippings creates one Doc per Clippings notebook, in your own Drive, named Clippings Inbox — {notebook name}. You add that Doc to the matching NotebookLM notebook as a source, once.
From then on, every clip you save to that notebook is appended to the end of the Doc as soon as processing finishes, and NotebookLM picks the change up when it next syncs the source. Nothing to export, nothing to paste, no tab to keep open.
What a filed clip looks like
Each clip is its own entry in the Doc, in an order NotebookLM can cite:
- A heading with the creator and the title of the post.
- The original link and the date you saved it.
- What to pay attention to: your note, in your words, written while you still cared.
- The creator's caption.
- Key takeaways: three to eight bullets grounded only in what the video says, steered by your note.
- The full transcript. For a photo carousel it is the slide text instead, with the slide count, because a carousel has no audio and calling its text a transcript would be a lie.
Ask NotebookLM a question and it answers from the transcript; your note is right there to tell it, and you, why the clip was worth keeping.
Setting it up
- Sign in to Clippings and open Settings, then Connect Google. The consent screen asks for access to files this app creates, and nothing else.
- Turn on the NotebookLM connection. Each notebook gets its Inbox Doc the first time a clip lands in it.
- In NotebookLM, open the matching notebook: Add source, then Google Docs, then pick Clippings Inbox — {name}. Once per notebook.
- Share a clip from your phone. It appears in the Doc, and NotebookLM syncs it in.
The Google account you connect can be a different one from the account you sign in to Clippings with.
What Clippings can and can't see
The Google permission is drive.file alone: Clippings can read and edit only the Docs it created. Not the rest of your Drive, not Gmail, not your existing documents, and it never learns your name or email from Google. The consent screen says exactly that.
The Docs are yours. Edit them, move them, rename them; Clippings appends with a revision check so it never writes over a change you made by hand. Deleting a clip in Clippings leaves the Doc alone, and if you cancel, everything already filed stays in your Drive.

Every plan can publish into NotebookLM, Notion or Obsidian. Free holds one connection — pick the one you live in. Starter ($5 a month billed yearly, or $6 monthly) and Pro ($8 a month billed yearly, or $10 monthly) hold all three at once, and each notebook chooses which of them it publishes to.
